We're working with Eden to plant mangrove trees.

The question is: Why mangroves? And why Eden?

The Big Idea

When I first heard the idea of supporting a mangrove project, I thought... That sounds terrible. I'm not a fan of mangroves, and they don't look that important; I just thought of mangrove swamps.

But mangroves actually help keep reefs alive! And they're being destroyed at an alarming rate.

Many reefs positioned among mangroves are far more resilient to bleaching, drastic tides, and temperature changes. Commonly, these mangrove-protected reefs outlive other nearby reefs that are dying to bleaching or temperature changes.

Mangroves are even more important than that, though. In fact, around one-third of all marine fish species are sheltered from predators in mangrove forests as juveniles.

They also provide a lot of nutrition in the form of detritus.

These trees, while making the world more green and beautiful above and below the surface, seem to play a key role in rebuilding and keeping reefs alive.

And Eden Does A Little Extra

One of the main reasons we chose Eden is because they take a more long-term approach with a focus on sustainability.

Focusing on the people they're working with, supporting families and communities, and helping create businesses. But more than anything, they get amped on creating beauty and growing trees - not just planting seeds!

They're also an open book with audited & public financials. So anyone can see exactly where their funds are going every year. How good!

Our goal is to make this world more beautiful! And we believe this is a small piece of that puzzle. We're going to align with plenty more awesome projects in years to come, but we're stoked to be a part of Eden, and to be contributing solutions to a dire problem.

This may also make us carbon-negative. So that's kinda cool. Although, official measurement & certification costs about 20 grand, so we'll save that for later... haha.

One step at a time :)! And we're starting here: Planting lots of trees.
